Home Straight
February was all about the touring life! Girl From The North Country moved across the Irish Sea to play the beautiful Grand Opera House in Belfast to packed audiences throughout the week, before being ferried back across to Scotland for its final visit to the country, playing Aberdeen. Most of us flew to these destinations, admittedly, although I was taken a rather scenic route at one point, flying from Belfast to Inverness before being taken in a taxi (all paid for by the airline) the 2.5 hour drive to Aberdeen!
We are now in Norwich, and the tour very much feels on the home straight now. Excitement and trepidation as to what comes next for our company members is a hot topic of conversation in the backstage corridors. I have managed to line up my next contract - news to come soon - so I am busy preparing for that whenever I have a spare afternoon.
Otherwise, it’s basically planning for life post-tour, which for me involves finding a place back within spitting distance of London (I am still officially based with family in Cheshire while I have been out on the road). I am looking forward to a small taste of that when we play Wimbledon later this month, but the planning for my own London home now starts in earnest!
